Location

Gerani is a coastal village in the northwest of Crete situated between the villages of Platanias and Maleme (approx. 2 kilometers). With a long beach, the village is somewhat spread out along the coast. On the seafront you find the new part of the village where most accommodations are (called Pano Gerani) and further inland ithe old Gerani (Gerani Palaio). Through the village runs a small river and there are a number of taverns and cafes, a few supermarkets, a bakery and a petrol station. There is a regular bus service to the city of Chania. Being less developed as its neighbour, the village of Platanias, Gerano is a slightly quieter setting. The area in and around Gerani is very fertile and you can find a lot of fruit and olive trees and plenty of wild nature. The river divides the beach into two pieces. On the west side of the river is a sandy beach with umbrellas and sunbeds, and on the east side a much quieter beach with sand and pebbles.
